Trisomic plants have 10 pairs of normal chromosomes plus and additional one of the ten. They often have distinctive characteristics and can be followed by selected genetic markers

Trisomic 3 ear: An ear of trisomic 3 from the cross of trisomic 3 A1-d sh2/a1-m Sh2/al-s sh2, Ac, Dt1 dt1 x a1-s sh2s, Dt1 Dt1. Having the appropriate marker on each chromosome to identify trisomic carrying embryos. Pale non-shrunken kernels with dots will be mostly trisomic.
